A short trip up North

Will be in KL next week.

Look forward to some catching up with quite a few old friends. Coincidentally TM will be there the same time as well so we plan to meet. But the best has got to be hubby joining me later & we'll be having a short holiday there. Woohoo!

Especially miss the super delicious char siew @ Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin. The first time when I visited this very run-down but famous shop (called Meng Kee), which was more than 5 years ago, I was totally turned off (but wasn't nice to say no to him so I stayed & am glad I did!). Yet no one seems to mind the unhygienic surrounding as they presumably sell the best char siew. Each piece comes with a charred sugary coating of fats that melts in your mouth.. oohh... And hey, don't think that it's cheap ok.
Hubby loves it too. Whenever we were there, we'd definitely visit this place more than once during our stay. Last year, we even bought some back but sadly, it wasn't as nice after being kept in the luggage for a few hours.

Yeah.. next week we can have our fav char siew again! And what's more, a short getaway! Hysterical

All Girls Night Out

Went Modiva with the girls last Fri night. Wow it's been a long long time since I last went clubbing, what's more, without hubby.

It could be more fun if June wasn't bashed that soon. She downed a glass of long island tea offered by the guys. After that she's still sober but wasn't en forme enough to party on. Enjoyed it with the gals though it's the first time I met them (except June & Constance).

Left at 1.30am & hubby was already waiting for me at the front entrance. He'd been waiting for me there as he's worried I would drink a lil too much. Not at all man! Hehe..

Heard they're doing it again later this month...

Fotos will be uploaded when I've got them.

To brighten up a monday morning

Let me introduce my friend in office.....

It's a wrist-rest hubby dearest bought for me half a year ago. A cute lil thing that never fails to cheer me up especially during days like this.. Yawn~~

She's since attracted lots of attention.. including my boss asked me was it useful in supporting my wrist & the big boss of our company (my boss' mentor) who kept staring at it while talking to me. Finally his curiosity got the better of him & he asked me "what's this"?

Mannerism

Last evening we returned to AMK for dinner. We're the first to enter the lift & naturally I held the door opened. Came in a young couple with their toddler girl & took their own sweet time to push the stroller in. Then another man entered. And none of them open their golden mouth to say "thank you". So I turned back & asked hubby "am I a doorman?". I think the woman heard it & stared at me. Maybe she didn't get what I was trying to imply or maybe she knew but just couldn't be bothered. Actually I'm wrong to ask that question as even if I were a doorman, they should at least have the basic manners to say a "thanks" to that someone who does something for them.

In fact this wasn't the first time.. perhaps more than half of our lift-taking moments, we meet such people. They are everywhere...

Similarly, at hawker centres/foodcourts, hubby & I always thank those who help us clean the table, be they foreign workers or senior citizens. Some would look a lil taken aback that we actually talked to them. From our observation, people usually treat them as invisible (ironically if the cleaners are really out of sight, the patrons will desperately look for them to clean their tables) or back facing them while they're clearing. But we truly admire & appreciate them as how many out there, especially young locals, are willing to do this type of dirty job? And try to imagine without them around to clear the dirty dishes for us?

I wander how much it takes to just say a "thank you"?

Temptation On Board

Started during my April trip, I love browsing the Krishop catalogue when am on board. For the last two trips (April & May), was so very tempted to get the following...

Believe it's much cheaper than getting in Singapore.. but I've just replenished my stock (like 6?) when colleague & hubby went Bangkok last month.

For my tired looking eyes. But are they really good??

Thought of getting this for June's birthday. Will be having a 8-girls night out @ St James Power Station this Friday, drinks on the birthday gal.. yeah!

Eventually, I only bought the following for our blackie baby...
More than once, I was that close to pressing the service needed button and had to make big efforts to curb the urge. Proud of my own self-control.. though it might not be exercised at all times.. ha! It's good that I don't travel often, otherwise I can't imagine how much damages there would be from a series of inflight shopping, thinking that it's much cheaper to get it up there.

二人世界

Mum left for a 4D3N church camp in Port Dickson last morning. Brows

So I prepared dinner for hubby. Simple but all his faves - my signature fried rice, sweet & sour pork. Dessert - beancurd almond longan. Didn't get to have a taste of the black beauty (tis really its name) water melon we bought... too full! And hubby did all the washing.

Seeing him thoroughly enjoyed the food was the best reward for all the perspiration I'd had. Though I won't cook often as both of us prefer to spend more time together (eat out) than prepping, cooking & then washing. Another valid reason is.. we seldom get to have the kitchen all by ourselves.

If you were me

Sometimes I really wonder.. why do we need to respect someone just because he/she is older??

What would you do if your (supposedly) close one borrows from you every 2 - 3 months because he has once again overspent his $$ on horses & beer? Borrow isn't the right word as he never returns. Not forgetting those times I was asked to pay first but never could I get it back. He doesn't take care of his mum.. no visits, no calls & of course no pocket money given.. alright, maybe twice or thrice throughout his more than 25 years of working life. Perhaps he thinks that his mum is a toy that could be chucked aside.. doesn't need to eat nor money for daily needs. But he fails to realise that even his beloved pet dog needs food & water (& grooming!), not to mention a human being!? Only when he's in need of money, he would think of his mum.

It could still be fine (not that there's a choice) if not for the most recent ridiculous act. Don't try to sponge me & hubby again. I don't owe you a living. Likewise, what we're having now is because we hard earn it.
And I hate to say this: what goes around, comes around. Your daughter is watching you, for all you know.

Now tell me, how can I respect you?

Lil Rylie's 1st Swim!

Rylie having fun in the water

He took everyone by surprise (including himself) when he suddenly bent down & had his head submerged, then up again. His action was so quick but enough to frighten him.

Blear-eyed Rylie... didn't dare to sit again.

Wanted his gu-gu (舅舅) to carry him... they're heading to the playground.

Waiting for his mummy to fetch him at the other end of the slide.

Enjoying a dip in the hot jacuzzi.

A pic with hubby. I preferred to stay dry on that day... too lazy to change into my bikini since it's just a short session.
