Weekend Comes Early!
We usually don't indulge in elaborated dinners on weekdays as we'll like to go for simple meal & then hit home early. But this evening, maybe because hubhy came to fetch me early, we decided to dine just next to my office.. we've been wanting to try their pork knuckle.
Looking forward to the siblings catchup tomorrow night! ;)
The Rotisserie.
The pork knuckle wasn't that nice.. the fish n chips was ok though, it wouldn't go too wrong anyway. Their Quarter Roasted Chicken is the popular one but hubby doesn't like breast meat so I never thought of recommending.
After-dinner drinks - Cherry beer & Apple beer at The Wine Connection @ Robertson Walk. Short but great chillout session with nice music :)

The Big 'T'
Early this year, hubby bought me an iPad 2. But I wasn't impressed with its performance (by now I'm quite convinced that it's me though I don't know why).. pretty often Facebook couldn't be updated.. likewise for emails.. then the occasional sluggish web browsers....
So when we got a Sony Tablet S (WiFi only) as a free gift from the purchase of a Sony TV, it only made sense to let my iPad go since (1) the resale value of a pre-owned iPad is even higher than a brand new Tablet S & (2) I wasn't fully happy with my iPad so didn't mind trying out another tablet.
We redeemed our Tablet S a week ago & it's not easy finding it a case. In the end we'd to get the original one @ $90 (!!), without any choice of color & design. The price definitely didn't match the case design... as we'd to use a few double-sided tapes & velcro to secure the tablet to the case & it's bulky. But at last we got it all settled (though the initial experience was already pretty unpleasant). On the same day, we sold our iPad 2 for $400.
Only a week with Tablet S, I got the following problems - couldn't edit photos, couldn't upload photos on blogger & it's quite a hassle to be connected to WiFi only though I could still use my mobile as hotspot.
Then on Sun, my dearest hubby, knowing his wifey was unhappy with Tablet S, decided to bring her to shop for another tablet & eventually got a Samsung Tab 2 10.1 on the same day & traded in Tablet S for $180. Love ya, honey! :*

Exchange Programs
Amelie told us about her plan of visiting Singapore next year with her daughter (Cilaé) & it got me all so excited as finally after almost 15 years, we're gonna meet again!!! Then she brought up her ideas - 1) an exchange program for her daughter with a Singaporean family 2) home exchange for holidays.
Project No.1 - Exchange Program for the Kids
The first I had in mind was sis. And as expected, sis was keen. Both of them are of similar age too.. 12 & 14... But the girls' school holidays are in totally different timing, so I suggested that Cilaé comes over during her holidays & perhaps spend about 10 days with sis & Rachel (my niece). Then when Rachel has hers, she'll go over to Amelie's. Both Amelie & sis thought it's a pretty good idea but would have to discuss in details about how they spend time together while one of them is attending school. Perhaps enrol the other girl who's not schooling in a short term English / French class? Amelie has even come up with the preliminary program - a few days at the countryside and a few on the mountain besides spending a few days in Paris. We think it's really educational yet fun to learn about another country's language/culture & to make new friends.

Hubby & I find Amelie's idea of home exchange interesting but as it's not common here, it might be difficult to make it happen. If Amelie & Cilaé were to visit, we would definitely have them stay with us for a few days. Then we thought if she could bring forward her trip to this year end to coincide with our anniversary trip, we could consider exchanging home with her?? But we both think the chance isn't high.
Whatever it is, I'm so happy that I'll be seeing her again... even though if it's next year. Can't wait!

De Thé et ...
Think recently I'm obsessed with tea. To be exact.. I'm obsessed with having tea with my beloved & I like it in a nice, relaxing ambiance. Our fav is Earl Grey but sometimes I'm in the mood to try different types of specialty teas.
This the latest that we went to over the weekend where we had a good 2-hour (though the place is a lil too cramped)...

ANTOINETTE, Parisian patisserie and salon de thé
I had Geisha Earl - bergamot + orange blossoms + lemon peels + sencha base. Nice.
Hubby took Earl Grey d'antoinette. Pretty unique but too flowery scented.
We enjoyed the all day breakfast - eggs with sautéed onion & mushroom... & the french toasts with salty caramel & crème Chantilly completed the great makan experience :)

Double Take
Last Fri night... we'd dinner @ TCC at Keppel Bay... somewhere nice yet near hubby's office. But the car ride from Telok Blangah Way to Keppel Way took us more than 40 mins.. the congestion was unbelievable! After dinner, we're looking for somewhere to have tea (as we're unhappy with a TCC staff so didn't wanna stay on which we initially planned to do prior arrival). We eventually decided on Privé downstairs.
Then we did the reverse - to TCC upstairs for tea & some cakes. Haha.
Nice carrot cake.. even hubby who's not a dessert fan also enjoyed it ;)
Next evening, after a day's shopping @ Ion/Taka, we went to sis' to help her on the FB fanpage. Then we went for late dinner.
Back to Privé for dinner :)

Well In Advance
A fruitful trip!
Bought mum a very very early birthday gift (her BD is end Aug!) as she's been complaining about her handbags to us & sis.
Ok, we got the hint.
After discussing with sis, we decided to get her now since she needs 1.
And hubby bought me a bag too! :D
Much time was spent in looking for the right gift for mum & very glad that she likes it. Hubby bought a pair of shoes from Pedro & I, a few pieces from FEP. So it's indeed a fruitful trip for all of us ;)
After shopping, we'd tea & some bites at Dome, Dempsey. Good chillout time of 2 hours after a whole day's walking. Nice ... :)

Bored!
Had lunch with colleague of another department, Cindy, today. Felt lazy so we ate @ our office cafe on level 7. After a short lunch, we're bored so started taking many shots of ourselves. Anyone there who know us must be thinking we're mad. Haha.

Salad Lunch!
Recently I'm into making our own salad & glad that hubby likes it too. To spice up my lunch in office a lil, I volunteered to treat a few colleagues to salad with my self-made dressing for last Wed's :)
Since there's some left over soba, hubby & I decided to have it on Fri as well... & brought for another 2 colleagues who didn't get to eat on Wed & asked to try.
And all of them liked it... this the greatest encouragement.. for all the washing, cutting, boiling, packing into late night after work. Gotta applaud hubby's support.. in doing everything together with me excitedly though I know having salad as lunch wouldn't be his first choice.. hee.
They've been asking for it now & another requested that I do the dressing for her ;) I'm trying to negotiate barter trade though - my dressing for her strawberry cheesecake (Jelly Hearts) :P

Good Food, Good Weekend
It's a very nice Sat morning. Breakfast @ P.S Cafe Dempsey, with hubby, mum & sis. And mum likes the place :)
Mum, sis & hubby took the same breakfast & only mum could finish!
Well.. but our most preferred breakfast is still this ...
Sunday breakfast.
Cheap & delicious... we love the wok-fried taste ;)
Sunday noon we helped sis to set up the audio system. Our reward was a great lunch... foie gras, duck confit & steak... :) Hopefully from now on, I'll be greeted with some nice Paris Café music whenever I step into her place ;)
