Violence. Why?

Saw a pic of MG with a bruised eye on FB. Was curious.. wanted to ask but don't think it's appropriate. Based on some remarks left by his friend, think he got into a fight in Zouk?

Hubby said.. there're only 2 possible reasons why a man gets into a fight - 1) money & 2) woman... that's typical!

Though typical it sounds, there's some truth... as $$$ & love (especially when it's romantically linked) have great power in evoking a person's emotions or worse, in making a person act impulsively.

Both hubby & I were being offered such a complimentary service before.

About hubby's, it's during his NS days & we all know the guys there come from all walks of life. He's having relationship problem then & his mates offered to bash the 3rd party. But hubby declined their "help" as he didn't see the need at all to get himself into trouble for someone who's already gone.

Mine? Also few years ago before I knew hubby. Mentioned before that I was coming out of a rocky relationship & someone from overseas said he could send some guys to teach him a lesson for mistreating me. I rejected the offer too as I didn't want to break the law & get myself implicated because of that loser. And also gave him a chance to deprecate me? Totally not worth it.

Fortunately both of us were rational. But many guys (& maybe some girls too?) let their anger or ego rule their head, which is why there're crimes of fights happening everyday.

Wonder if you've ever seen the following on TV (娱乐百分百)?

I've watched it a few times but still find it very funny.

Bioresonance Therapy (BRT)

Constance appeared in this week's i-weekly! ;)

This business of naturopathic treatments (Bio-Resonance Therapy Centre) was established by the uncle, Vincent, & another partner a year ago. And they're expanding fast.. to think that their first centre was opened only last July.

Now, both Constance & hubby are working for their uncle while Ben's just "graduated" from his nearly 10-month vacation job with BRT. It's served as a very good training ground as hubby & I see the changes in him... he's become more mature & responsible:)

Con runs the centre that treats pets (Passion for Pets Centre) and hubby helps Uncle Vincent in overseeing the Singapore business as the 2 bosses are spending more & more time in their overseas ventures.

Initially, hubby & I were quite doubtful about these therapies. Instead, I've started to take TCM because of my weak health. Till around April this year, hubby's elder uncle, GH, tried persuading hubby to have my FIL treated in BRT. As Uncle GH is a prideful person who always has his own views, we're surprised that he spoke well of the treatments which both he & his son had received before.

So in May, I went for health check in BRT. The problems diagnosed were the same as those identified by the few chinese physicians I've consulted before. The fact that nobody from BRT foreknew my health condition but was able to get to the same diagnosis gave us confidence to be treated there.

And more to it, I needed cancer-support treatments as degenerated cells (DC) were found in my liver, large intestines & lymphatic system. Some in stage 1 & some in stage 2 (ie. it's the very initial stage before a lump's formed & can't be detected by the usual medical checkups; only stage 3 DC would be picked up by the medical checks). I wasn't too surprised as the chinese doctor, Dr Jeremiah, who I faithfully visited of late cautioned me that my liver & large intestines were not good & that's before I went for BRT check. When asked if I would have cancer in those areas, Dr Jeremiah didn't rule out the possibility. What makes me harbour such thoughts is also the family history of cancer cases on my mum's side.. about 50% of her family members, & we're talking about having 8 sisters & 2 brothers, were diagnosed with or died of cancer (breast cancer, ovarian cancer, nose cancer, cervical cancer ...). That's really scary. So the shadow of having cancer has always been with me, especially my health's been weak.

After about 6 weeks' treatment (twice a week & it's expensive!), I was discharged! Supposed to continue with the normal treatments (for my spine, allergies ...) but I'll go back when we're more settled. That doesn't mean I'm free for life.. due to our eating habits, lifestyle & work stress in the world today, there might be a comeback or some other areas could be affected. So I'm gonna have a review a month after my last treatment, that is, early Aug.

According to hubby, Singapore Cancer Society has been referring patients to be treated in BRT. It's really meaningful to be able to help them.

Hubby's checked too. Thankfully he doesn't have much health problems except for his spine.

We thank God for leading us to the right thing at the right time. Imagine if we're not aware of my health condition & not doing anything till..... & very often, cancer is developed by then.

The consecutive happenings recently once again remind us that He is the Sovereign & Merciful God. We'll learn to put our lives in His hand, be it in sickness or in good health, & walk His path hand in hand :)

The Wedding Couple

Talking about PY & Brian, they've really amazed hubby & me. We'd a catch up session a week before their Big Day. They felt that the wedding preparations were more like a tax to them & were Not looking forward to that day. They wanted a fuss free affair... no fetching of bride in the morning.. no bridal car.. no decor of the wedding lunch venue.. no photo shoots.. etc....

Ok, as long as they liked it this way. Unhappiness & dissatisfaction arise when there're different wants & needs between the couple. So if PY & Brian are both truly happy with such arrangements, we feel happy for them too.

But hubby & I feel that it's too simple for our liking. We go for grandeur within simplicity.. just like how we had ours.. it holds memories that'll last us a lifetime. So we wouldn't want to have any regrets & truly, till now we still fondly recollect every single detail that had happened on our Wedding Day & wouldn't want to change a thing.

And unlike Mr & Mrs Brian & perhaps most of the couples, we enjoyed every bit of the preparations. It's a hearty celebration for us, after overcoming so much barriers together... So it certainly symbolised more than just a wedding.....

Packed Weekend

@ Sheraton. Attending the Solemnisation & Wedding Lunch of PY & Brian :)

The Bride & Groom.
The Solemnisation venue was a nice lil outdoor area with waterfall & pavalion, in front of The Dining Room.

The pavilion was too small to accomodate all the guests. So many, including us, witnessed the Solemnisation across the bridge.
The JP is from hubby's ex church.

A pic with them. PY was beautiful!

There's a lil interlude though that panicked the bride & me. I was even soaked with cold sweat! After the tea ceremony, PY wanted to change into a tea dress (in pic above). But we'd serious problems with the uncooperative zipper. It took us nearly half an hour & 2 blisters on my right index finger to get PY in that dress. Phew!! While waiting for us, hubby's chatting with Brian & his cousin & they joked that Brian might have a runaway bride (as half an hour was too long for changing outfit without touchup of makeup & toilet trip... & the room was only a level above). Haha.

We left Sheraton around 4pm & went home to get changed. We're attending the 21st birthday party of one of hubby's cousins.

@ Somerset Grand Cairnhill's poolside buffet & BBQ party

The night's theme was Hawaiian but most of them were not participative.
So if there're a best dress award, the winner should have come from our family.. hehe.

On Sun, we'd breakfast @ Hans, National Library. Then went to West Coast Plaza. Sure I haven't been there for long... the place's undergone quite a successful facelift. I couldn't imagine that it's right next to where I previously stayed & was then an everyday pass-through for me, when it's still known as Ginza Plaza. It's so nice revisiting the place which I'd stayed for more than 10 years since school days.

Before noon, we reached IMM & only left at around 6pm. Next stop was Toa Payoh to run some errands.

The weekend was tiring but definitely a fruitful one :)

PY & Brian

Tomorrow is a day worth celebrating. Hubby & I will witness the Matrimony of our dear friends, PY & Brian.

The day PY announced their wedding, & at the same time invited us, was only ONE month away from the actual day. Instantly, we thought if it's a shotgun wedding. As they'd not been really keen to get wedded, especially now that they're comfortably staying in their own apartment, & I was more like her nagging mum:P But that's because I didn't want her to hold regrets in not having her beloved one to witness her happiness. I nearly missed it for ours.. but God was very gracious to us.

That day, we're texting each other & I finally asked. She laughed, saying we're not the first with such suspicion but fortunately, nope:) It's mainly because of her ailing mum.

It's gonna be an intimate wedding lunch celebration with a total of 60-70 guests, out of which 95% would be family/relatives. Brian preempted that it'd most likely look like a senior citizens' gathering as many of their relatives're above the age of 50, hee.

We feel really happy for them :)website statistics

JTSS Reunion @ Fisherman's Wharf

Last Fri night, met up with the ex secondary school mates/classmates. It's initally organised for our class (4C) but turned out to be an inter-class gathering. It's the first time meeting some of them after we left school!

Not too many of us... plus a few from our class dropped out last minute (including Mel). So that night's attendance - 5 from 4C, 1 from 4A (& he's MS, remember who he is?), 3 from 4B & 2 from 4E :)

The lady in the centre used to be my idol.. haha.. as she's so pretty & was always surrounded by guys. I could only admire her from afar every day after school as she stayed near my place. And I'm surprised that she still remembers me, given that she's so popular.. :)

John tried his best to have his side profile taken so he might look slimmer. But, wrong choice! Haha!

John's succeeded! His chin's so sharp in this candid shot :P

We'd a real good laugh reminiscing those days in school. We're crazy then... Almost everyday we fought in class.. you know, the typical Boys vs Girls.. but the girls were always Mel, Sally & me only. The boys? Usually 5 to 6 of them, if not more. I was such a tomboy then :)

How fun we were? In our graduation year, the whole class put up a performance "Miss Universe Pageant" for Teachers' Day celebration & it's spectacular! We're the only class who got on stage as a whole class:) And after so many years, I still think the plot's hilarious!

It's a pity that video recorder was not common then & there's no digital camera. Below are some scanned pix (so image quality's not good) to explain the story......

I was 1 of the 5 finalists - Miss Japan. The other 4 finalists were (from left) Miss India, Miss Thailand & Miss Hawaii. Miss Chile was the last finalist announced. Look at her expression! Haha!

So finally, Miss Chile won the title. But Miss India, Miss Thailand & Miss Hawaii strongly contested the result & even got into a cat fight with Miss Chile while Miss Japan stood aside, terribly frightened.

It was when their hair & clothes were torn by one another that their real identities exposed...... they're all men!! So naturally Miss Japan, being the only girl, was crowned Miss Universe...

Miss Japan on the Miss Universe throne. Mel was the previous Miss Universe. I had an interpreter & 2 ninja as escorts. In fact, I'd enjoyed very much, the rehearsals & the actual performance... because at that time, I'd a huge crush on the ninja on my left. Hee.

Other than some roles of escorts & interpreters, the rest of the classmates were contestants from other countries.
Take a look again at our 4 beauties... I would vote for Miss India as she (err.. he) looked so pretty & demure. And the funniest gotta be Miss Hawaii! Hehee...

It's our glorious past, haha, as our performance was such a rave then. We heard that quite a few who participated in other performances for Teachers' Day saw ours during the full dress rehearsal & by word-of-mouth, many who wanted to play truant on that day actually attended school just to watch us! :D

I miss Sec 4C. I miss our unity.

Ring ring ....

Hubby badly needed to change his cell phone, so last Sat he upgraded his plan. As usual my beloved, who always wants me to have whatever best things that he could afford, gave me the new phone & took over mine. Right from the beginning of our relationship, he's set this practice... except once or twice when we both got new phones at the same time. He's really spoilt me in his own ways!

So now, I got a new phone!:D And hubby's using the SE T700 which I've previously taken well care of. :)

Milestone

I'm retarded in updating. Lotsa happenings in June.

We've been thinking... every few years, things would all come at the same time...

But we're looking at it positively... despite some amount of stress in certain phases, all these have drawn us closer to God, and to each other as well :)
