Some lighter moments

That afternoon in Bkk, in the midst of the bz preps, the long accumulated tension & overly worrisome mood (about that day's weather) had finally given way to the excitement of having only less than a day's agony to endure. Whether the event a success or not, there wasn't much I could do already at the last minute. So why not enjoy it? Decided to make myself feel better by dressing up a lil. But nothing much could be done except to the hair. But how? Didn't bring any hair accessory except a grey, overused rubber band. So before getting prepared for the evening, I ran to the hotel's drugstore & got the next best available items - some black hairpins & a tube of cheap hairgel pour homme. Was quite happy with myself for being able to make use of the very limited resources & got it done in only a few minutes. Well... I personally liked the different look as very seldom do I pin up or tie my hair especially for formal functions, tho' the change wasn't something drastic.

When I arrived at the ballroom, there're the assistants & some guests who arrived early & I was taken aback as all eyes were suddenly on me! "Wow you look so beautiful today!" "You look like a star!"...... Then 1 of the journalists there (whose boss I knew) started snapping some shots! 1 of the delegates even came & complimented that I looked really great that evening. Normally I look very lousy meh?! Nevertheless, I did feel a teeny-weeny bit like a celebrity, for that moment. Haha!!

Didn't have a proper pic of myself with the group. Didn't bring my own camera & feel too paiseh to ask that journalist for a photo of myself... hmmm...

Towards the end of the reception, was approached by 1 of our guests... a very well-dressed Thai (in suit). Initially I thought he's a model or a Thai actor. We started off talking about work & later asked a lot on non-work stuff. From a woman's instinct, his interest was quite obvious. Then came the question - "r u married?" Told him yes! & newly wed! Couldn't he see my beautiful wedding ring? But my answer didn't deter him from the following questions 44 he asked me what I would be doing after the function. I had to lie to him that I would be joining the group for supper. Next he asked whether he could call me later. Then, me: "Huh? later? what is it about?", him: "no, nothing... just to chat". Didn't expect him to throw me the last question, I replied "oh... well..... maybe". But in my mind, was prepared to sound very sleepy if he were to really call.

Dwight, who had been observing all this while, walked past & gave me a mischevious wink. Later on when I was chatting with the whole delegation, Dwight came & told everybody that "Kelly was talking with a very handsome man just now!" Amid the roaring teases, my dear boss played along & told him to pause while taking out a piece of paper+pen & said he wanted to make a report as some1 (u know who) would be very interested to know... Ha!

After the function, didn't join boss & the group for supper & drinks... preferred to enjoy the solitude & chat with hubby... was also glad that the Thai guy didn't call. The next morning, they gave me a suspicious look when told them I rested in the room the whole night. So they thought I'd gone out partying with that guy? Oh who cares what they think...

Honestly if it's a few years back, I would be more than happy to befriend a guy like him. Can't believe I'm so 乖 now huh?

Scheduled to return on Sat morning by taking the 1st flight but got last minute release from boss on Fri afternoon. So within an hour I packed up & left for the airport... took the last flight on Fri night. So happy to be back a night earlier!
